Chapter 2-Mission One
Team Five came into the Mission room, awaiting their first mission. They heard Rin and the receptionist talking, but they couldn't clearly understand. The receptionist nodded his head, and Rin turned around holding a scroll he gave her. She gave them a signal to leave. They left the building following Rin, who seemed joyful. "What kind of mission are we doing?" Arai asked, breaking the silence. Rin paused and turned around toward her students. "You all will be taking this secret scroll to the Raikage."
Kuenai heard "You all" and asked, "You are not coming with us?" "No I'm not," said Rin. "So we're leaving here to go to another village by ourselves? Don't you think that's challenging for our first mission?" Kuenai asked. "No. I don't," Rin responded. "Meet me at the Leaf Gate ready for departure," she continued and then vanished afterward. Razu was first to leave as Arai asked Kuenai; "Is she crazy?" Kuenai said, "I think she might be." Kuenai walked off, and Arai went his way.
Twenty minutes later, Team Five was standing in front of Rin, who was right under the gate. "Use this map and take this scroll to the Raikage. Remember not to look at the scroll, at all." Arai grabbed the map and Razu, the scroll. "You can do it," said Rin. They walked past Rin and off to the Village Hidden in the Clouds.
"I think now we all can get to know each other," said Kuenai walking on the left side of the group. "How about we start with Razu? I haven't heard him say one word yet," Arai said looking over at Kuenai. "You okay with that?" Kuenai asked Razu, who was on the other side of Arai. Razu looked over with a silent glare. Kuenai knew that he didn't want to say anything. "All right. How about you, Arai?"
"Sure; first, I will start with my friend here. His name is Aoiraikou. He is very energetic and for some reason is hateful to new people. You’ll have to wait for him to like you two. Then, for me, I am quite adventurous. I like traveling. I received Aoiraikou when he was one years old. They told me why he was named Aoiraikou because of his special power that I haven't seen yet; I will someday though, right Aoiraikou?" Aoiraikou looked at him happily and barked as Arai continued on. "That’s pretty much everything about me. What about you, Kuenai?” Arai asked. Kuenai responded, “Well, I’m very strategic and easily scared by any thing. There’s nothing else I could describe myself with really.”
Arai looked down and opened the map. “How long do you think this mission will take?” Kuenai looked over to the map and pointed to a specific spot on the map. “The destination is here, so I would say about three days to there and three days back,” explained Kuenai.
It hit sundown, so they started to set up camp. Arai arose from squatting after finishing setting up. “All right. Aoiraikou and I will get some training in for today.” “Okay, I’m going to go get some food,” Kuenai said following Arai out the tent. Razu lay down in his bed and looked upwards. His right eye turned red for the second he closed his eyes to fall asleep.
Arai tossed up a block of wood, making it bounce off the tree branches above him. He rapidly grabbed three kunai in his right hand, one between each finger. He tossed the first one, which had a small piece of paper on it that started to catch fire. It hit the block directly in the middle and exploded right after. Thirteen small pieces started to descend from the blast. “Now!” Arai commanded. Aoiraikou leaped out of the branch above Arai and hit each piece of wood, aiming each in front of Arai. They stacked into one pile as Aoiraikou landed behind Arai on his front paws first, following up with his back paws. Arai kicked the bottom piece upward, forcing the other pieces up and spun to slash one of them with his claw. He back flipped after and slashed the two pieces behind him, creating fairly large slashes on them. As he was upside down, he slashed at five pieces, spinning to his right and made chips separate off the original pieces of wood. He finished off by throwing the two kunai in his right hand, one to the right of him, one to the left. The kunai sliced among the remaining pieces at angles to create slash marks on them. He completed his back flip as the blocks of wood landed in front of him. They were standing up straight with the slashes facing Arai. “Let’s head back now Aoiraikou,” Arai said turning around. Aoiraikou barked as he happily jumped onto Arai’s left shoulder.
“Hmm,” a mysterious voice silently echoed through the surrounding trees, “They could be better than I thought.” Arai heard it barely, yet he acted as if he didn’t hear. He continued going back to their camp.
Arai appeared behind the camp and went to the front to sit down there. The minutes following, Kuenai walked into sight holding an abnormally large group of blue-colored berries and some other fruit. “You hungry?” she asked Arai walking up to him. “Yeah, thanks. That’s a big pile of food,” Arai commented with a smile. They sat near the fire and started to eat. “Watch out, there’s someone following us nearby,” Arai whispered to Kuenai. “I’ll stay on guard tonight,” he continued. Kuenai finished her share and went off to rest. Arai held Aoiraikou as he sat against the tree nearest to their fire. There was a wolf howl in the forest off in the distance.
Kuenai heard "You all" and asked, "You are not coming with us?" "No I'm not," said Rin. "So we're leaving here to go to another village by ourselves?
