Chapter 4-Yakiimo Versus Team Five
With his partner Arashi down and all of Team Five awakened, the situation looked bleak for Yakiimo. But little did Team Five know of Yakiimo’s family line trait that allowed him to achieve the rank of Jounin before he was the age of thirteen. Yakiimo started to chuckle, confusing Team Five. “Why are you laughing? We have you beat,” Arai questioned him.
“I’m just thinking about how much enjoyment I will be getting from your destructions,” Yakiimo replied. “You’re finished!” he exclaimed as he rapidly made out eighteen handsigns. Razu was only able to see the first two, Dragon and Tiger, and the last one, which was Tiger also. “Secret Phoenix Jutsu!” Yakiimo activated his ability, forming a flaming orange aura around his body. He dashed forward at Razu, trying to eliminate him first. Razu managed to deflect his fist but was unaware of his left fist right after. He was hit directly in the face; which in turn, it broke his nose and shattered his sunglasses to black dust. Razu’s body was thrown back through multiple trees and other natural objects. He finally slowed down enough for one tree, a mile away, to catch him. He looked up back to where he came and his right eye was a bright red color. He had two tomoe of the Sharingan eye within the red. He steadied himself up and ran back to the fight, ignoring his condition.
Yakiimo was enjoying his first attack, and waited for his excitement to dwindle. Arai and Kuenai were both scared frozen as Yakiimo laughed. He stopped and turned to Kuenai for his next target, saving Arai for last. Yakiimo motioned forward for his next punch. Luckily, Razu made it back in time to deflect Yakiimo’s fist. Razu followed up by swinging his left fist into Yakiimo’s face. Even though the strike hit perfectly, Yakiimo didn’t move, showing the attack had no effect. Yakiimo looked over at Razu, moving Razu’s fist that was still attached to his face. Yakiimo looked into Razu’s eyes with the intent to destroy. He also caught sight of Razu’s special eye.
Arai regained control of his fear-frozen body. He took advantage of the moment and dashed at Yakiimo. He leaped at him, ramming his shoulder into Yakiimo’s back. He made contact, but Yakiimo didn’t budge. Arai fell to the ground with his shoulder in extreme pain. ‘I have to stop doing that!’ Arai yelled in his head. Yakiimo then kicked Razu into a nearby tree and knocked him unconscious. After, he put his foot under Arai’s stomach and lifted him into the air. A few seconds following, Arai fell back down in front of Yakiimo. Yakiimo just threw his fist out into Arai’s arm, breaking it easily and sending Arai off into the distance. The crash forced Arai unconscious. Aoiraikou quickly jumped up and bit Yakiimo’s forearm. Yakiimo simply swung his arm out and sent Aoiraikou flying into the ground. He tumbled over and landed on Arai. Aoiraikou was easily put into the unconscious state that Razu and Arai had entered earlier.
Yakiimo turned to Kuenai. She was still frozen with fear and her time was coming to an end. Yakiimo moved in to attack, but Kuenai couldn’t move even though she was trying her hardest. Yakiimo punched Kuenai in her chest right above her heart. His hit was the perfect death strike and stopped Kuenai’s heart immediately. She flew off in the opposite direction of Arai, and died seconds later.
Yakiimo had flipped the tables on Team Five. Razu, Arai, and Aoiraikou were all badly injured and knocked out. Kuenai had been killed and it seemed Team Five was going to be annihilated on their first mission. Yakiimo stopped glowing and dropped to one knee. “Oh well. I can finish them without that power,” Yakiimo smirked.
Suddenly, two shadows dropped into a nearby tree. “Yakiimo, we’re here,” said the masked shadow. This struck fear into Yakiimo, and he quickly decided to abandon the field. The two shadows quickly chased after him.
A day passed by. Only Razu was awake, so he took care of his teammates: Arai and Aoiraikou. Around noon, Razu went out in search for Kuenai. He came across her dead body and brought it back. Arai was awake and holding Aoiraikou. “She’s dead,” Razu announced, seeing Arai up. Arai looked up at Razu and asked, “How are we still alive?” “I’m not sure, but I woke up not too long after Yakiimo hit me. I saw two shadows chase him off yesterday.” Razu put Kuenai down and looked over at Arashi’s charred body. The flames went out over time. Razu noticed the scroll still sitting near the fire pit. “I want you to take Kuenai back to the village. I’m going to finish this mission,” Razu proclaimed. Arai quickly responded, “No. I’m staying with you. We’re a team and we will finish this mission together.” Razu thought on it and nodded. He looked down at Kuenai and then looked back up at Arai. “We can bury her here,” Arai suggested. They made a grave near the trees they were tied to during the ambush. They both knew carrying Kuenai back to the village would take longer than traveling to where they were now. They gathered up their items and continued to the Village Hidden in the Clouds.
Razu and Arai arrived the following night, only a day after their planned arrival. They headed to the Raikage to deliver the scroll. When they entered the room, Razu caught a glimpse of Yakiimo escaping through the window. The Raikage was sitting at his desk and questioned their reason for arrival. Arai answered, “We’re here to deliver a message from the Village Hidden in the Leaves.”
Arai looked over to the other person in the room. She stood as tall as Razu and Arai with thin black hair parted down the middle. She wore a short yukata and a katana on her side. She looked back at Arai with interest in her eyes, noticing Aoiraikou as much.
“Put the scroll here on my desk. Kaho, escort the Leaf ninja outside to wait for a reply message,” the Raikage commanded. The girl in the room started her way to the door. Razu and Arai immediately turned to leave, knowing the way out. Kaho turned right after the door and headed downstairs; Razu and Arai followed. The entrance room on the bottom floor was where Kaho stopped and waited. Little time passed after Team Five stopped before a ninja landed outside and walked inside, holding a scroll. He gave it to Kaho and then left. “The Raikage has replied and will send you two off with this,” Kaho held out the scroll. Arai reached for it, and he took it into his care. Team Five left the building and headed out of the village. They started their journey home.
Kaho watched Arai as he left. “He’s indeed of noting. Him and his dog,” she commented to herself. Her body sparked, and she motioned to return upstairs.
“I’m just thinking about how much enjoyment I will be getting from your destructions,” Yakiimo replied. “You’re finished!” he exclaimed as he rapidly made out eighteen handsigns.
